Activities for older people
Provision of leisure activities for older people within the community. This may include cultural, sporting and other organised social activities.
The Council provides facilities which are well used and popular for older people in the community. In particular, the Swan Leisure Centre Tweedmouth provides sporting activities, and the Maltings Theatre and Arts Centre provides cultural activities. The Council also currently runs two specific schemes which encourage older people to take up physical activities: Motivate, for disabled people, and the Walking to Health Initiative.
All services are provided through effective working with key partner organisations, particularly Leisure Connections, Northumberland Sport and The Maltings Theatre and Arts Centre trustees.
Booking forms for activities available direct from the Swan Leisure Centre and The Maltings Theatre and Arts Centre; forms for Motivate and Walking to Health activities available from the Council
