My politics

I have been a Conservative all my adult life as I believe in the values of the party and what they represent.

Why I am involved in local politics:

I am involved in local politics principally to try and help the people in my ward.

I feel that this is the area where my strengths lie.

I enjoy listening to people and resolving their problems whenever possible.

You have to have very broad shoulders in politics,but if you want to contribute towards making a difference to people's lives and well-being,you learn to take the bad times as well as the good!!

Local issues important to me:

There are so many important issues ,but the ones so vital to me are:

The enhancement of Marygate with flowers e.t.c.
Adequate medical cover for all.
More affordable housing.
Regeneration to help stop all the young people moving away.

Improvements which I wish to bring about in this Council and the services it provides:

Our top priority should be to market with pride the beautiful part of the world in which we live.

We must make it a welcoming destination for visitors and local people.

What I would like to achieve as a Councillor:

To be seen as making a difference in as many people's lives as possible in my ward,and to help my fellow members at all times,even when the going gets tough!!!

Which committees I serve on, and why:

I serve on the Policy Environment Committee as environmental issues are extremely important to each and every one of us.

I believe we all need to be aware of the need to take care of this wonderful planet of ours and it is indeed a subject that is very close to my heart.

For the last year I have helping my husband in his quest to become M.P.

Unfortunately it was not to be,but it has now released me to spend more time on the issues that concern me.

Outside interests/hobbies:

Family first.
Music,Reading and Theatre.
