SAFETY AROUND THE FARM
Farms can be dangerous places, and whether you work there, live there or are just visiting, being aware of your surroundings can keep you safe.
A group of Agencies have been working together on a farm safety initiative
- Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service
- Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council
- SureStart Berwick Borough and Alnwick District
- Northumbria Police
- National Farmers Union
This has come about due to the increase in incidents involving the Fire Service, which can become protracted due to the rural area.
Through their work a series of Farm Safety Booklets have been produced which cover Farm Fire Safety, Children’s Farm Safety and General Farm Safety. The group also offers support and guidance on all farm safety matters.
For the farmer a Farm Safety Checklist is also being produced to improve farm safety and help with their fire risk assessment. An interactive booklet will also be available to bring the dangers of the farm to a younger audience.
f you would like copies of any of these publications please contact Louise Duncan at Berwick Fire Station, telephone 01289 330753, or look on any of the Agencies websites.
