Home improvements - home repair assistance grant

The repair assistance grant scheme provides financial assistance towards the cost of materials required to carry out repairs, improvements or adaptations to property.

This service is provided to help homeowners of properties to carry out minor repairs. The assistance can be in the form of a grant or the provision of materials.

The cost of the works must not exceed £5000 [ including VAT]

Examples of the types of work, which can be included within a home repairs assistance grant are the securing the basic fabric of the building from wind or rain, protecting the occupants from immediate exposure to danger, repairs or replacement of services and repairs to doors and windows .

Home Repair Assistance is subject to a Test of Resources i.e a ‘means test’ which in the first instance is conducted informally.
