Communal heating charges
Communal heating charges for council properties are divided among all residents on an estate, the proportion is added to their rent account.
If you are a tenant in Horsdonside flats, Wooler your heating and hot water is supplied from communal boilers that supplies your hot water and central heating.
Costs are revised on an annual basis. The Council calculates the unit cost for each tenant and then recovers these costs by charging these tenants a separate weekly charge alongside other weekly charges such as rent, water charges etc. This will be described as a heating element on your rent account statement.
The Council will always give you four weeks' written notice of any change to this central heating charge. Tenants are entitled to claim compensation for periods where their heating and/or hot water systems are not working.
