(i) Notes on the Debate
Councillor A Hughes advised that a precedent had been set when former fishermen’s cottages at Chapel Row, Seahouses, had been brought back into use but that when no parking spaces had been created. Councillor W N Ferguson opined that it was the responsibility of the developer and the applicant to resolve the parking issue.
The recommendation was agreed following a vote, the Chairman using his casting vote with votes tied at four/four.

Councillor A Hughes reported that since the previous application had been refused, the developers had worked assiduously and in partnership with the Parish Council to produce amended proposals which met with approval of the Parish Council.

(ii) Notes of Debate
There was a concensus amongst Members that the replacement facility should be in keeping with the appearance of Lindisfarne Castle and surrounding environment.
Some Members expressed concern that the granting of a further extension might be perceived by the National Trust as tacit approval for retention of the existing structure on a longer-term basis, particularly since the expiry date fell within the peak tourist season when it would not be possible to demolish the structure and erect a replacement.
Members resolved to refuse permission on the grounds that the proposal would further unacceptably impact upon the setting of the listed building.
