2.1	To recommend the application of Mr Antony Chessell of Coldstream to Council for appointment as the second Independent Member of Standards Committee.
3	Report
3.1	Following the recent advertisement for application from persons to become an Independent Member of the Standards Committee four candidates were interviewed on the 14th September 2007 by a Panel comprising the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Committee together with the Monitoring Officer. The names of the candidates interviewed were as follows:- Dr Gillian Weidmann of Berwick-upon-Tweed Mr Antony Chessell of Coldstream Mr Robert (Bob) Kay of Reston The Panel, while impressed by the overall calibre of the candidates, chose unanimously to recommend the application of Mr Antony Chessell to this Committee.
3.2	Copies of the applications submitted by the candidates are available upon request to members of the Committee.
