West End Resident’s Association (Appendix 1)
The West End Resident’s Association have submitted a funding request for £750, towards the costs of the following work:
• Creating a garden in memory of a young local resident who had worked on the research for the riverside trail = £250
• Fencing at Queens Garden to enhance the area and protect the garden = £500.
The work of creating the garden is expected to be carried out by volunteers, and any additional costs will be paid from the West End Resident’s Association funds.
Members may wish to note that previous grants have been given to the West End Residents’ Association towards the cost of seating and signage along the riverside walk.
3.2
Spittal Improvement Trust (Appendix 2)
Spittal Improvement Trust have submitted a funding request for £250 towards the costs of equipment to be used for their quarterly clean-up of Spittal Beach. The work is carried out by volunteers, but equipment in the past has had to be borrowed from the Council or other sources. Owning their own equipment would allow Spittal Improvement Trust more flexibility in carrying out regular clean-up activities.
Members may wish to note that previous grants have been given to Spittal Improvement Trust towards the costs of the Spittal Gala.
3.3
Tweedmouth Feast (Appendix 3)
Tweedmouth Feast Crowning and Carnival Committee have submitted a funding request for £500 towards the cost of insurance for the event, for this year and last year.
Town Committee had agreed to pay £250 towards insurance costs in 2006-07, but due to an error on the application form, the sum was paid into the Tweedmouth Feast bank account rather than Tweedmouth Feast Crowning and Carnival Committee’s account. By the time the error was discovered, Tweedmouth Feast had spent the money and were unable to pay it back, and Town Committee decided to let the payment stand. However, the original sum of £250 was not additionally paid to the Tweedmouth Feast Crowning and Carnival Committee. The £500 requested in the application before you includes that figure of £250 from 2006-07.
Please note that accounts for the Tweedmouth Feast will be tabled at the meeting.
