6. Environmental Maintenance Projects
Castlegate Car Park
Members were assured that permission for the works to proceed is expected shortly.
DECISION: To note the report.
Marygate/Castlegate
A consultation exercise to prioritise projects for Castlegate improvements will take place shortly, to ensure that when funding becomes available, there are projects ready to be put forward.
DECISION: (i) To request that the Environmental Maintenance Manager find out why the litter bins at the Castlegate car park seating area are sealed.
Entrance to Co-op, Main Street, Tweedmouth
DECISION: To request that Councillors attending the Area Committee raise this as a matter of priority within the Local Transport Plan.
Lady Jerningham’s Statue
DECISION: To note the report.
Cemetery Lane: traffic calming
Members were concerned by the proposed traffic calming scheme, and suggested that electronic signs may be a suitable alternative.
DECISION: To request that Members attending the Area Committee put forward alternative proposals under the Local Transport Plan.
Bus Shelters in Golden Square
Members agreed to await the recommendations of the Masterplan exercise with regard to public transport arrangements in the Town Centre, before seeking any further developments on this item.

7. Floral Displays within Berwick Town Centre
DECISIONS: (i) To allocate £5,000 from the Town Committee budget towards the revenue costs of floral displays in the centre of Berwick-upon-Tweed; and (ii) to request a report with detailed proposals and costings to be submitted to the next meeting of the Town Committee.

8. Guidance for Civic Party
Councillor Herdman showed Members a draft Civic Handbook which had been prepared by the Civic Advisory Group, and which could be comprise the main section of a Civic Handbook, and Councillor Smith suggested that a history of the mayoralty had been compiled by a previous Sergeant-at-Mace, which may be available to use in the Handbook.
DECISION: To allocate up to £500 for resources (i) to collate and produce a Civic Handbook; and (ii) to contact Berwick Community High School with a view to setting up a website for the mayoralty.

9. Berwick Town Council – Update
DECISIONS: (i) To request that the Chair of Town Committee write to Berwick’s Member of Parliament, seeking his assistance in moving this matter forward; and (ii) to endorse the work which has taken place to date, and to agree to receive further update reports at future Town Committee meetings.
