Elections – proxy votes
Provision of a facility whereby people who cannot attend the polling station (usually for reasons of ill-health or employment) on an election day can nominate another person who will vote on their behalf. The proxy must be eligible to vote in the election themselves in order to act on behalf of another person.
If postal voting is not suitable you can appoint someone to vote on your behalf. A permanent proxy vote is available to certain people on the grounds of ill health, employment or educational commitments. The form must be attested by a suitably qualified person. For more information contact the Electoral Registration Officer
Temporary proxy voting is available to any registered elector for any reason and does not need supporting by a qualified person. Please click here for an application form.
