These sessions are usually during School Holidays. The main purpose of the provision is to look after children in the absence of parents. This form of care can include children from three years old and children over eight may use it, usually up to the age of 14 years.

Examples of these are Holiday PlaySchemes and Summer camps. These schemes are registered by OFSTED if the total care provided is for more than 2 hours in any one day, and for more than five days a year and provides care for children under eight.
