Two new ticket machines in car parks in Berwick-upon-Tweed town centre have ‘gone green’.

The machines located in the Parade and Eastern Lane car parks are the latest Metric Aura and use solar power.

Both take coins only and replace the two mains powered machines, one of which was 26 years old.

Transport and Environmental Regulations Manager Gary McBride said:
“These new machines represent the latest technology available. If they are successful, I hope to replace all our older machines with a mix of solar and mains powered versions.”

Tom Porteous from Metric said:
“We look forward to working with Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council and the opportunities this creates for providing a better service for car park users.”
