The Mayoress of Berwick, Sandra Evans today welcomed the news that the new chemo unit at Berwick Infirmary will officially be opened this month as she continues to fundraise for much needed equipment which will be used to treat patients.
The Mayoress of Berwick Sandra Evans said:
“Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer and the opening of this unit means that local people can be treated here in the town rather than having to travel hundreds of miles down the A1.
“During this year I’ve been fundraising for the vital equipment which will go into the ward. We’ve raised a huge amount of money so far but we still need more so that Chemo for Berwick can purchase the equipment they need.
“If you would like to get involved in the fundraising or are running an event from which we could raise money please give me a call.
“Other events are also taking place over the next few weeks, please make an effort and attend one or make a donation. This equipment may one day help a family member, friend or neighbour,” she said.
If you are interested in holding a fundraising event for the Mayoress please call Sandra Evans on 07720263310.
