Local children from Grove School, Berwick-upon-Tweed will take to the streets on Thursday, 15 May to find out if local traders are interested in becoming a plastic bag free town.
The survey is part of a campaign being led by Berwick Community Trust, with support from partners, to see if people are interested in Berwick and Seahouses becoming a plastic bag free zone.
The school children and teacher Penny Derries will be carrying out the survey on Bridge Street, Berwick-upon-Tweed. She said:
“We’ve already produced an alternative ‘bag for life’ which costs £2.50 and the children at the school designed the logo. We’re now helping to survey the local shops to find out the level of support for the campaign.”
