Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council’s Leader Isabel Hunter has made a personal donation to the Granary project.

The Preservation Trust are running the fundraising project to see the Granary turned into a multi purpose building including a new heritage interpretation and education facility, bistro, and outdoor café area and en-suite visitor accommodation, provided by the Youth Hostels Association.

Fundraising has been very successful so far with over £2.8 million funding raised. The trust is looking at other ways to make up the remaining funding including asking members of the public to make a donation.

Leader of the Council, Isabel Hunter said:
“The Granary is an exciting project which will regenerate a recognised landmark in Berwick. I am delighted to make a donation and will be encouraging other Councillors to do the same.”

Anyone who is interested in making a donation to the Granary project can contact the trust on 01289 309615.
