HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY : 27TH JANUARY 2008

January 2008

Holocaust Memorial Day takes place each year on 27th January (the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz), and in 2008 the theme is: ““Imagine… remember, reflect, react”. This theme challenges us all to image the unimaginable, and asks people to focus on the lives and experiences of the victims and survivors of the Holocaust and other genocides. Ultimately, it is a call for action for everyone to :

• Remember the past
• Reflect on the present
• React to create a better future

A civic service of remembrance will be held in the Parish Church of Holy Trinity and St Mary, Berwick-upon-Tweed, at 10.00am on Thursday 31st January 2008, and at the Holocaust Memorial Tree in the Parish Churchyard.

The service is open to all members of the public.

The services are scheduled to end at approximately 11.00am.
