Sport England Activity Challenge in Berwick

As part of the Sport England Activity Challenge, Sports Development Officer Paul Jones in partnership with the Swan Centre in Berwick is offering you a chance to take part in some challenging activities which run until 9 December.

A programme of challenges have been put together to give you something to train towards and make you more active; but at the same time you will also have fun taking part in the challenge with friends or other gym users.

There are four challenges which you can take part in.

Stepper Challenge - ever wanted to climb the highest peaks in Britain, Europe or the world but not wanted the travel or the expense, now’s your chance. During the challenge you can try one of three climbing feats on the stepper:
• highest peak in Britain - Ben Nevis (1,344m)
• highest peak in Europe - Mt Elbrus, Georgia (5,642m)
• highest peak in the World - Mt Everest, Nepal (8,848m)

Rower Challenge - row across the seas over the 10 weeks:
• Channel - 34km
• Length of the Med (Monaco to Morocco) - 300km
• Atlantic (Spain to Antigua) - 6,000km

Exercise Bike Challenge - ride from Berwick to some of the biggest cities in Europe:
• from Berwick to Edinburgh - 57 miles/ 92km
• from Berwick to London - 339 miles/ 545km
• from Berwick to Paris - 608 miles/ 979km

Swimming Challenge
• swim across the channel - 21miles/ 34km

Simply record how many meters you climbed, rowed, cycled or swim at each visit and enter them onto the wall chart with your running total.

To take part in any of the challenges simply call into the Swan Centre and collect a passbook.
