Berwick Borough is blessed with a beautiful coastline and to ensure that area is managed now and in the future the Northumberland Coastal Authorities Group is developing a Shoreline Management Plan.
A series of six public meetings will take place across the North East in July so that you can view the information which will be in the plan, learn about the policies for the area and have your say. The meeting in the Berwick area will take place on Tuesday, 8 July at 5pm in St Aiden’s Church Hall, Church Street, Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Environmental Maintenance Manager Chris Budzynski said:
“The coastline between Berwick and the River Tyne is very important to people, communities, industries, businesses and the environment. With climate change and other pressures, careful consideration needs to be given to how potential erosion and sea flooding of the coast will be managed both now and into the longer-term future.
“At the six public meetings we want to know what you think about the policies which will help form the plan. We will then create the draft Shoreline Management Plan and further public meetings will take place later in the year when you can give your views on the completed document,” he said.
