Parking information for Mobile Homes and larger vans in off-street car parks operated by Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council

The Borough Council operate a number of off-street Pay and Display car parks for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. These are located in the main centres, including the historic walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

We are happy to accommodate compliant mobile homes and large vans in the following off-street car parks where there is sufficient space for larger vehicles:

Castlegate, Berwick-upon-Tweed:
Centre aisle of the long stay overflow
Chare Ends, Holy Island:
Parking at the north end, near entrance
Bamburgh
All areas except the coach parking area
Seahouses
grassed overflow at rear, between logs

Charges apply seven days a week including Bank Holidays and are displayed on signs adjacent to ticket machines.
There is also a weekly tourist permit which can be purchased in advance from Tourist Information Centres.
Further information is available in a separate leaflet.

Other guidance and enforcement issues

In most other car parks, it is a requirement that vehicles are parked wholly within a marked bay so as not to be a hazard or obstruction for other users. Most drivers will find these unsuitable for a mobile home or larger van.

Caravans, trailers and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are not permitted in any car park. Many of the car parks are unsuitable for these vehicles so please seek alternative parking.

Please be aware that overnight parking is not permitted in our car parks nor are you allowed fires or cooking outside the vehicle.

The main enforcement issues:
Failure to:
display a valid ticket
park wholly within a marked bay
park in a disabled bay without the relevant permit
park in a coach area
Any of these may result in the issue of an Excess Charge. This is £60, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days.
